My experience is in helping people who are struggling with difficult experiences or relationships in their lives and want to do something about it. For example: Why can't I say no or say what I really feel? How can I decided if I should stay in this relationship? I'm struggling with aspects of being a carer, or coping with having a chronic illness? Why do I feel anxious a lot of the time?
About me and my practice
Together we will find understanding and perspective along with focused tools and strategies to take with you as you move forward in life.
Personal development is ongoing throughout our lives and counselling helps us to become more confident in our abilities to manage life's challenges.
Experience
I qualified from the University of Abertay in Dundee with a Masters degree in Counselling. Since then I have been helping people from all walks of life when they need support.
I have a great deal of life experience and had my own challenges to overcome. We have evolved as social beings to support one other and I believe we all need kindness, compassion, support and encouragement - without judgment- and this is what I aim to offer everyone who comes to me for counselling.
Qualifications
MSc in Counselling (Distinction), BA (Hons) History
SAAC Alcohol Counselling Accreditation
Additional Information
My working life has been varied and enjoyable. In particular I always enjoyed my interactions with others and the psychology of the many different relationships at work, with friends and family. Learning how to communicate in a healthy way with ourselves and others can improve our lives in many ways.

Initial Consultation
The first session is a little different from other sessions. We'll begin to get to know each other a little. It's very important that you feel safe, comfortable and respected, listened to without judgment. I'll explain my approach to counselling, discuss confidentiality and our contract for working together. We'll discuss why you have come for counselling, what you would like to achieve, your concerns, challenges and goals so that I can support you in the best way possible. You'll have the opportunity to ask questions in this session and throughout your counselling; I am always open to feedback. You can discuss any preferences you might have for counselling, for example, you may not want to use worksheets as resources or to explore early childhood experiences. Our sessions will be tailored to your individual needs.
Fees
£50 per session of 50 minutes.
When I Work
Thursday mornings and in the evenings on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays. I can be flexible about our sessions, as we might meet every week, every two or three weeks, or monthly, according to your needs. I understand that work and other commitments don't always allow us to stick to a set timetable.
