About me and my practice
My special interest is helping people with low self esteem as this is self limiting and causes them to not achieve their goals or, often, not even to have any goals.
We aren't born with low self esteem - it develops over the years. Sometimes there can be a big trauma when we lose our confidence in ourselves or it may develop slowly due to the way we are treated by others. But, bit by bit, we start to expect less for ourselves and from others and this becomes a self fulfilling prophecy as we, in turn, receive less respect from others.
I use counselling and EMDR to find the roots of these feelings of low self worth and install a more positive belief in ourselves and our future.
I work online via Zoom, Teams, WhatsApp - my clients value the extra convenience and confidentiality this offers.
Experience
Since qualifying in 2006, I have helped clients with many emotional issues which have caused them unhappiness in their lives and some have become addicted to drink, drugs and gambling.
I have worked with adopted children - families, adults and children - and I had extra training around attachment which I find really useful when working with all clients. All humans have a need to attach to others and difficulties around this can lead to much unhappiness.
I was wanting a more powerful tool in my toolbox to help clients who had suffered trauma of all sorts at any time in their life so I took extra training and I qualified as EMDR UK & Europe Accredited Practitioner and this has transformed my practice. Using EMDR truly reaches the parts other therapies can't reach and produces astonishing results in a fairly short time.
