I understand there are times in life when we need support outside of our normal network. You may be looking for a place to safely share your worries, fears, vulnerabilities, in the knowledge it will not burden those you love. If you are reading this, it is likely you are struggling, possibly confused or in a turmoil; stuck or struggling with confidence and self-esteem. What could therapy with me, do for you?
About me and my practice
Therapy provides the space to find meaning, to explore experiences; to understand distress in a compassionate and understanding environment. Sometimes we need more guided support or strategies to address our problems.
My style is relational, humanistic, and integrative to help clients discover clues to their unease and distress and to consider alternative ways of viewing and overcoming their struggles.
I believe the relationship is paramount, and understand finding the right therapist is not easy. I advise clients to take their time to find their therapist.
Experience
My professional experiences:
I came to being a therapist later in life. I worked in two very different sectors of design and children and family services prior to training as a therapist. I developed experience from working with families struggling with parenting difficulties, special educational needs, domestic abuse, substance misuse and mental ill-health. My work in these areas often utilised motivational and strengths-based models.
In my therapeutic career I have worked for the NHS with adults and older teenagers suffering with depression, anxiety, worry and stress originating from issues such as childhood neglect and trauma, loss and grief, and accumulative life stress. I have a passion for working with attachment theory; understanding the blueprints formed through childhood and working with different types of loss and grief.

Initial Consultation
Your next step:
Our initial meeting via telephone or videocall is an opportunity to talk about the support you are looking for, your goals for therapy and whether we can work together to achieve this. It is my role to decipher this with you and consider a pathway forward. The first session will involve an opportunity for you to ask any questions and for me to gather a little information from you and to explain in more depth the counselling process and confidentiality.
