Sex and intimacy can be hard to talk about, awkward to bring up, easy to put off. I'm a BACP-accredited therapist with ten years' experience, now a Psychosexual and Relationship Therapist in training. I'm offering a small number of reduced-rate spaces for people wanting support with things like low desire, difficulty relaxing, confidence, or feeling disconnected from a partner from October.
About me and my practice
I'm an Accredited Member of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP), with over ten years' experience helping people work through anxiety, trauma, identity and relationship difficulties.
I'm currently completing further specialist training in sex and relationship therapy, under full supervision, and as part of that I'm offering a small number of spaces at a reduced, sliding-scale rate to work with people on things like: wanting sex less than you used to, finding it hard to relax or stay present during sex, timing that feels out of your control, low confidence around your body or performance, or just feeling distant from a partner and wanting to feel close again. This is for people of any sex, gender and sexual orientation.
This is entirely talking therapy. Nothing physical happens in sessions, and nothing is ever expected of you beyond talking. Any practical exercises are things you try privately, in your own time, and we discuss how they went.
These sessions are offers as a fixed-term, focused intervention of 812 sessions. However, there is no commitment, and you are free to end therapy at any time.
Once the initial block is complete, we can review your progress together. If you feel you would benefit from further support, you are very welcome to transition into my general therapy practice at my standard rate.
Experience
Over ten years experience, working with adults from a wide range of backgrounds, including many in demanding or public-facing roles where there's often little space to acknowledge vulnerability.
The kinds of things people bring to sex therapy include difficulty getting or staying aroused, finishing sooner or later than you'd like, wanting sex less than a partner does (or vice versa), pain or tension that makes sex difficult, trouble reaching orgasm, anxiety or pressure around sex, and feeling disconnected from a partner.
I also bring specific experience with LGBTQI+ clients, non-monogamy, kink, and chemsex recovery.
Some of these things have physical causes, so I always encourage checking in with a GP alongside our work talking therapy works well as a complement to medical care, not instead of it.
