What I am offering is a service that allows you to talk freely to a friendly person with full portfolio of high level experience. It is hoped that our work together will allow rapport and trust to be formed but at a pace that suits the client.
About me and my practice
I first started working in social care in 1981. That started a career, initially working in group homes and social work projects, that later led to running Wellbeing and Counselling services in universities across the south-east of England. My commitment is to remain up-to-date with what people need and use existing (and indeed new) techniques and practices that help. however I would hope to avoid psycho-babble - I am plain talking and practical. I am committed to being clear, trustworthy and kind.
I first began formal training in counselling in 1993 and this ran parallel to my initial work in colleges and universities.
I also live in the real world of business and community (I appreciate and have observed that the educational world can be privileged and at times exists in silo). I ran a disability assessment company for over 20 years and still do consultancy work in this area - particularly around the area of Mental Health.
I am a life coach within business and also an accredited mediator. This aspect of training has been used in areas of career developments and employment arbitration.

Initial Consultation
I always like to speak to potential clients prior to agreeing sessions. This is for 10-15 mins, informal and free. It is so that we can decide whether to work together before getting into any sort of agreement.
The session remains confidential and we both still need to abide by the BACP Ethical Framework - so helpful if you check these out first https://www.bacp.co.uk/events-and-resources/ethics-and-standards/ethical-framework-for-the-counselling-professions/
Fees
Once we have agreed to work together we then contract how often we meet and the fees involved.
I presently charge £75 per 50 minute session.
Health Insurance Funding
I do not have any health insurance company alliances. If this was your route to fund therapy please find out their fee structure and approval process prior to your initial 10/15 min consultation.
Low-fee sessions
I preserve a percentage of my practice sessions for reduced fee places. There is presently (Sept 2026) a waiting list for this half-fee option. Again something that can be discussed at your initial 'find out' sessions.
