Hello I am Cheryl Forrester a qualified counsellor with an MSc in Psychology. I can help you with a range of life challenging issues.I work in partnership with clients recognising that they have valuable life experience of their own to bring with them to the counselling session.I believe life can be challenging at times and it is important to work with clients to enable them to develop their own personal tools such as emotional resilience to enable them to manage their own life situations.
About me and my practice
I work mainly with clients within a person centred framework, but also use tools drawn from Gestalt therapy and CBT amongst others.There has been a strong emphasis on depression and other mental health issues during my CPD training.I have an inclusive practice which respects diversity and personal difference. I'm committed to working with clients within an anti-oppressive framework which values their unique experience of life recognising what they have to bring of value to the counselling session.I also have a knowledge of adult safeguarding from my former role as qualified social worker. If you are experiencing a life issue including sadness, depression, lack of confidence, relationship difficulties or anything that is making life difficult for you, and want a listening ear I can be there for you during your counselling sessions.I have a lot of life experience, I am open minded and incorporate a none judgemental approach in my counselling.I also have a specific interest in issues that relate to hidden disabilities, and bereavement.
Experience
I work with adults. I am able to offer face to face counselling, telephone counselling and counselling by zoom. I have considerable experience of working with clients in my own practice with a range of life issues. I also have experience of working with couples. I have worked on a counselling platform which enabled me to develop my online counselling skills further after I completed the NCPS online and telephone counselling course. My experience has shown me that some clients will always prefer face to face counselling, and I can accommodate that. However online counselling does open the doors to people in various geographical areas in the UK to access counselling and is often a more flexible option if they are unable to see a counsellor face to face, this of course can be due to a variety of reasons work patterns etc.I have recently updated my CPD training around trauma and working with the LGBTQ+ community. I believe CPD and personal development are an ongoing process of which I am committed to

Initial Consultation
I offer a free 15 minute telephone or online session to establish if we can work together and to identify if I am the right counsellor for you.
Fees
I charge £35 for a 60 minute client counselling session.
A 90 minute session is charged at £50.
Couples counselling is £50 per session.
There is a standard charge of £15 per letter.
When I Work
Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm. Evening and occasional weekend counselling can be booked in advance by mutual agreement.
